Dr. Deas is here to explain…

No one likes to talk about Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and I get it, who wants to sit around and talk about each other’s shitting problem? The truth of the matter is that 1 in 5 American’s have symptoms of IBS, but since no one really likes to publicly embarrass themselves with their IBS stories, the disease tends to be overlooked. Usually people can control their IBS symptoms through diet and maintaining their stress levels, while others need medication and therapy. Unfortunately, I’ve tried it all and I still am terrified of soiling myself everyday. Research shows you’re more likely to have IBS if you are young, female, have family history of IBS, and if you have a mental health problem. Looks like I’m shit out of luck…

Endometriosis is a devastating commonly misdiagnosed disease that again no one really talks about because it deals with the female reproductive organs. Basically, without boring you all, it’s when the tissue that normally lies inside the uterus develops outside the uterus in places where it’s not suppose to, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries, bowels, bladder, and even the lungs. This causes the most gut wrenching pain, especially during aunt flo week. Other symptoms include extreme bloating, painful sex, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and fatigue. Endometriosis is also one of the leading causes in infertility, and that in itself is heartbreaking to many woman, including myself. In my body, the endo has set up camp in my tubes, ovaries, bowels and bladder, and this is called Stage IV.

So, there you have it! Just a little background on the two invisible diseases that I have, and will be talking about through the majority of the blog. As my posts go on, you’ll get to see first hand how it’s like to live with these conditions everyday. I’ll write more about my experiences, give tips, and hopefully create a blog that is helpful to others! XOXO
